Nashayah Napash was born as Darrick Jackson in Long Beach California.  

His mother raised him and his older sister on her own and relocated the family when Nashaya was only 4 years of age. 

 

Nashaya was reared up in an Apostolic church where all of his aunts sang in the choir or participated in church activities in some shape or fashion.  He was referred to as "The Young Minister of Music" at the early age of six and turned his closet space into his own personal studio where he would create some of his very first beats. 

 

Singing, dancing, and beatboxing like The "Fat Boys" Doug E Fresh & Biz Markie definitely set Nashaya up for what he is doing now!  At the age of 8 he was already putting together groups, bands, and creating group name titles and more!  Some of his first experiences on how to be a hip hop artist began at the age of 9 when the DJs would perform at his elementary school.  Anxious to perform, Nashaya was the first one to grab the mic!

 

When Nashaya's favorite aunt unexpectedly retired from the church choir, it provided a unique opportunity in which he began to compose and write their songs and orchestrate their live performances.  His role as the "Minister of Music" helped him to understand what was truly required to put together a multi-faceted musical career.

 

At the age of 13 Nashaya lost his eyesight due to detached retina as he was born with one eye he could not see out of already.  Amazingly that did not stop him from creating music or his desire to get out there and discover what music is all about!  His God given talent as a songwriter/producer even drew offers from those that were at least 10 years his elder requesting him to write for their groups.  

 

Two years later at the age of 15, Nashaya was hired by local record labels to produce, sing, and write for their company.  His talent quickly attracted offers from major recording labels such as Sony, Motown, and Polygraph records to be one of their artists! Due to the untimely passing of his beloved mother, Nashaya unfortunately could not sign with the larger labels as he was still under contract with the local record labels as well as a minor.

 

Pressing forward Nashaya was determined to hone his skills and stage presence by meticulously studying his older sister who would write, direct, and even act in her own screenplays.  Nashaya has extensive experience working with children's choirs, adult choirs and assembling gospel ensembles.  He is well equipped for any musical challenge that may come his way.  He is the multitalented, versatile, and complete artist,
